Romilly Layered Glass Disc Chandelier

The Romilly Layered Glass Disc Chandelier gathers rounded glass discs into overlapping tiers around a metal frame, each one lapping over the next like petals folding inward. The colour runs through the glass rather than sitting on the surface, so it holds its depth from the outer edge of every disc to where it meets the frame.

WorthNoting

Where does this one differ?

Because the discs sit at slightly different angles, light passes through two or three layers before it leaves the fixture, arriving diffused rather than direct. At ∅ 16.9″ × H 13″ it works over a small dining table, in an entry, or in a bedroom without dominating the ceiling. Available in red, white or gold glass with a nickel or gold frame, hung on a chain for hardwired ceiling installation. Takes E12/E14 candelabra bulbs (not included; a 3000K warm white best brings out the colour).

The Fit

Where It Belongs

Small Enough for the Room It Sits In

Romilly Layered Glass Disc Chandelier above a round table in a banquette corner

Over a Round Table, Where the Ceiling Stays Calm

At just under 17 inches across it reads as one soft mass rather than a spread of arms — which is what lets it sit low over a small table without closing the room in. Light passes through two or three overlapping discs before it leaves, so nothing arrives direct; the glow lands on the table rather than on the people around it, and there is no glare to look past when you're seated.

Where the size does the work

Breakfast Nook & Small Dining

∅ 16.9″ × H 13″

Sized for a round table of about 36–48 in. Hung 30–36 in. above the top, the discs sit above the sightline and the fixture stays a presence overhead rather than an obstacle in the middle of the table.

Entry & Landing

Chain-hung · ∅ 16.9″

Compact enough for an entry that a larger chandelier would crowd. Seen from below on the way in, the layered discs read as depth rather than as a flat silhouette — the reason it holds attention in a space you only pass through.

Bedroom & Reading Corner

∅ 16.9″ × H 13″ · E12 / E14 base

The diffusion matters most here. Because the source is buried behind several layers of glass, there is nothing bright to catch when you're lying down and looking up — the fixture glows as a whole instead of showing individual bulbs. At 13 in. tall it also clears a standard ceiling without the drop that a tiered chandelier usually demands, which is what makes it usable in a bedroom rather than only in a stairwell.

The Three

Colour Through the Glass

Three colourways, and they were made to hang together

White, gold and red Romilly Layered Glass Disc Chandeliers hung in a row across one room

White, gold and red across a single room. Same fixture, same size — the colour is the only variable.

White

On its own

The quietest of the three. Lit, it reads as warm cream rather than cold white, and unlit it disappears into a pale ceiling. Choose it where the fixture should light the room without becoming the subject of it.

In a run

Use it at the ends to open the sequence and let the stronger colours sit in the middle.

Gold

On its own

The middle ground, and the one that changes most between off and on — amber deepens as the light comes up. It carries warmth into a room of pale wood and stone without introducing a new colour to work around.

In a run

The natural centre. It bridges white and red, so a row reads as a gradient rather than three separate decisions.

Red

On its own

The one that commits. Colour runs through the full thickness of each disc, so where two or three overlap the tone deepens instead of flattening — the fixture holds its saturation even at the edges.

In a run

One is enough. Place it at the end of a sequence and let it be the note the eye travels toward.

Matching all three is the safe choice. Running white, gold and red across one long room is the better one.
